Why Is My Screen Online or Offline?
What online and offline status means on the dashboard, why a screen may show as offline, and how to bring it back online.
Overview
Digipal shows every paired screen as either Online or Offline.
The status tells you whether Digipal is currently able to communicate with the player.
It does not necessarily tell you whether the physical TV is powered on.
What Online Means
A screen appears Online when the Digipal player has an active connection to Digipal and is regularly communicating with the platform.
Once connected, the player checks in approximately every 15 seconds.
What Offline Means
A screen appears Offline when Digipal can no longer detect a recent connection from the player.
There are two ways this can happen.
Connection ends normally
If Digipal detects that the player's connection has closed, the screen may appear Offline immediately.
Digipal stops receiving check-ins
If the connection disappears unexpectedly, Digipal allows time for the player to reconnect.
If Digipal has not received a valid check-in for approximately 75 seconds, the screen is marked Offline.

How Digipal Detects Screen Status
A simple way to think about it is:
Player connected → Online
Player regularly checking in → Remains Online
Connection lost → Digipal waits briefly
No connection for approximately 75 seconds → Offline
Simple Online → Missed Connection → Offline flow
Common Reasons a Screen Appears Offline
An Offline status can be caused by:
- the media player losing internet access;
- unstable Wi-Fi;
- the Digipal player being closed;
- the media player restarting;
- the player entering a paused state;
- a temporary network interruption;
- the connection temporarily reconnecting.
The TV itself may still be turned on.
What to Check
If a screen remains Offline:
1. Check the display
Confirm the TV or display is powered on.
2. Check the media player
Confirm the device running Digipal is powered on.
3. Check the internet connection
Confirm the device has network access.
4. Check the Digipal player
Make sure the Digipal application is running.
5. Allow the player to reconnect
A short connection interruption may resolve itself automatically.
6. Check My Screens again
Once communication returns, Digipal automatically changes the status back to Online.
Tips
A screen briefly switching between Online and Offline does not necessarily indicate a serious problem.
If the same screen repeatedly disconnects, check the reliability of its Wi-Fi, Ethernet connection, or media player.
