How to Build Playlists and Schedules in Digipal

The ability to show the right content at the right time is one of the most practical advantages of digital signage over printed materials. Digipal's playlist and scheduling system is built around that idea. This guide covers creating playlists, building time-based schedules, and using priority-based conflict resolution.

Creating a Playlist

  • Open the Playlists section from your Digipal dashboard and click New Playlist
  • Set a default item duration — how long each piece of content shows before advancing
  • Click Add Content to browse your library: images, videos, Design Studio compositions, PDFs, and website URLs are all supported
  • Drag items to reorder, or set an individual duration on any item to override the playlist default

Building a Schedule

Open the Schedules section and click New Schedule to configure when a playlist or item should appear on one or more screens. You define a start date, end date, daily start and end times, the days of the week it fires, and a repeat mode. Repeat modes are: Once (start date only), Daily (every day in the range), Weekly (same days each week), or Custom (an arbitrary pattern of specific dates).

Priority-Based Conflict Resolution

When two schedules overlap on the same screen, Digipal uses a priority value (1–100) to decide which one wins. A higher number takes precedence. Set a low priority on your regular content rotation and a high priority on seasonal promotions or urgent announcements so they automatically override normal programming during their active window.

Schedule-Aware Offline Playback

Players cache both content and schedule data locally. If the connection drops, the player continues following the cached schedule — content starts and ends at the correct times. Once connectivity is restored, any schedule updates sync automatically from the dashboard.
