Smart QR Codes: Generate, Customise, and Track Scans from Your Dashboard

QR codes on digital screens bridge the gap between the display and the viewer's smartphone. Digipal's smart QR code module adds scan tracking and appearance customisation on top of standard QR generation, so you can measure engagement and update the destination URL without reprinting or republishing.

What Makes a QR Code Smart?

A standard QR code is a static image encoding a URL. A smart QR code wraps that URL in a Digipal-controlled redirect. You can change the destination after the code is deployed — on screen or in print — without generating a new code. Every scan generates a log entry with a timestamp and screen attribution.

Create, Customise, and Embed

  • Open Smart QR from your dashboard and click New QR Code
  • Enter the destination URL or select an internal Digipal surface: booking page, kiosk share, queue page, or DOOH portal
  • Customise foreground colour, background colour, corner style, and optionally embed a logo in the centre
  • Open Design Studio, add a QR Code widget, and select your smart code — it updates live without a design republish

Scan Tracking Analytics

Open any smart QR code in the dashboard to see its analytics panel: total scan count, scans over time on a daily chart, and — where screen attribution is set — a breakdown by screen location. Use this data to compare which screens drive the most engagement and how content changes affect scan rates.

Common Use Cases

  • Hospitality: scan to access the digital menu or book a table
  • Real estate: scan a window display listing to download the property brochure
  • Corporate: scan a lobby screen to register as a visitor or find a meeting room
