Restaurant Digital Signage: Menus, KDS, Kiosk and POS in One Platform

Running a restaurant involves more screens than most people realise. The menu board facing customers, the kitchen display showing the order queue, the POS terminal at the counter, the floor plan for front-of-house staff, and the customer-facing kiosk for self-service ordering. Most operators run each of these from a different system. Digipal consolidates all of them into a single dashboard.

Digital Menu Boards

The Design Studio includes menu board templates for quick service, casual dining, and beverage-focused formats. Connect the menu widget to your item catalogue and prices update on every screen the moment you change them in the dashboard. No USB sticks, no TV remote, no separate menu management software.

Dayparting lets you schedule different menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner automatically. Add a promotional overlay for happy hour, swap to a reduced late-night menu, or switch to a closed state with a returns-tomorrow message. All of it runs on a schedule without any manual intervention.

Kitchen Display System

Orders placed at the counter, through the kiosk, or via QR code all flow into the same kitchen display queue. Kitchen staff see order tickets with item lists, modifiers, and table or pickup identifiers. The KDS includes an Expo view for the expediter role, which shows all orders across stations with a mark-ready toggle that updates the customer-facing status display.

Floor Plan and Table Management

The floor plan editor lets you create a visual layout of your dining room with table shapes, sizes, and positions. Front-of-house staff see real-time table status: available, seated, has open order, or order ready. Seating a party at a table automatically opens a POS session for that table, with a banner in the POS showing the table number and code.

Table status updates in real time as orders are placed and fulfilled. When the kitchen marks an order ready, the table status changes immediately on the floor plan, so servers know to deliver without needing a separate notification system.

Kiosk and QR Ordering

Customers can order through a touchscreen kiosk at the entrance or counter, or by scanning a QR code at the table. Both flows present the same menu, support modifiers and upsells, and process payment through Stripe. Completed orders flow directly into the KDS queue with no staff intervention required.

  • Kiosk ordering: full-screen touchscreen interface with categories, item detail, and modifier selection
  • QR ordering: customers scan a code at the table and order from their phone
  • Dine-in and takeout flows: different order types with appropriate routing
  • Pickup queue: a customer-facing display showing which orders are ready for collection

Role-Aware Staff Access

The restaurant module uses Digipal's role-based access control to limit what each staff member can see and do. Servers access the floor plan and POS. Kitchen staff see the KDS. Managers have access to reports, shift management, and menu configuration. Each role lands on the appropriate screen after login with no navigation required.

Billing and Subscriptions

Stripe handles all payment processing for customer orders and for the restaurant's platform subscription. Subscription tiers are tied to the number of locations, menu items, and monthly order volume. All billing is managed from the customer dashboard without needing a separate billing portal.

Getting Started

The restaurant module is available on Digipal's restaurant-tier plans. Enable it from the sidebar of your customer dashboard to access the menu builder, floor plan editor, and KDS configuration. Pair your first screen and it will be available as a KDS, menu board, or kiosk display from the screen assignment panel.
